Katya Richardson

Description

Katya earned her Juris Doctor from Western University in London, Ontario, where she volunteered at a legal aid clinic and successfully appealed a decision at the Social Benefits Tribunal. During her summer break, she interned with the Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women (GATTW) in Bangkok, Thailand, where she conducted legal research and helped coordinate an international workshop for legal aid clinics dedicated to assisting trafficking victims.

Katya was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2018 and has focused her practice primarily on family law matters. Katya cares deeply for her clients, and she fiercely advocates for them with unwavering composure and professionalism.

Katya has extensive experience assisting clients with unique needs and she approaches each client with empathy and understanding. She empowers her clients by providing clear and practical advice, encouragement, and support. She offers flexible service options and unbundled legal services for clients who are willing and able to represent themselves on some level.

Katya is adept in the courtroom and has successfully obtained orders for exclusive occupancy of the family home, protection orders, spousal and child support, parenting arrangements, and interim asset distribution. She also successfully resolves many cases through mediation and arbitration, which helps to reduce legal fees and minimizes animosity in family matters.

Katya is respected by her peers and appreciated by her clients because of her passion and commitment for justice. When she isn’t serving her clients across British Columbia, she enjoys reading, hiking, and working out.
